GurraSharr is an innovative digital platform developed within the EkoRinia project to help identify, record, and share freshwater sources across the Sharr Mountain region. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the GurraSharr mobile application (the “App”).
If you have any questions or requests, contact us at haliti.isak@gmail.com.
Who is responsible for your data?
Data Controller: Klubi Bjeshkatar Tetova (“we”, “us”, “our”)
Email: haliti.isak@gmail.com
This Policy applies to users worldwide. If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, we process your information in accordance with the GDPR/UK GDPR. If you are in the US (e.g., CA/VA/CO/CT/UT), state privacy laws may also apply (see “Your Rights” below).
Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to provide core features like spring discovery, mapping, and verification:
1) Information you provide
- Account/Profile (optional): Display name, email, avatar (if you sign up or log in). Social login IDs if you choose that method.
- Spring Reports/Contributions: Coordinates, altitude, flow type, accessibility notes, photos/videos you upload, and any descriptive text.
- Feedback & Support: Messages and contact details you submit via in-app forms or email.
2) Information collected automatically
- Location Data: To show your position, navigate to springs, and add precise coordinates to your contributions. Background location is optional and off by default.
- Device & App Data: Device model, OS version, app version, language, crash logs, and diagnostics to improve reliability and safety.
- Usage Data: Interactions with app screens, features, and anonymized analytics (e.g., number of marks or views).
3) Information from third parties
- Maps/Geocoding SDKs: We may use a mapping provider (e.g., Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Mapbox) for tiles, routes, and reverse geocoding. These providers may receive your IP address and coarse location to deliver their service. See “Third-Party Services”.
- Authentication providers (optional): If you use Apple/Google sign-in, we receive basic profile identifiers for login.
How we use your information
- Provide core features (locate, mark, verify, and share springs; offline/online maps).
- Moderate and verify spring data to improve accuracy and public safety.
- Communicate important updates, respond to support, prevent abuse and fraud.
- Analyze usage (in aggregate) to improve performance, accessibility, and UX.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
Legal bases (GDPR): performance of a contract (to provide the App); legitimate interests (safety, quality, analytics); consent (e.g., precise location); and legal obligations.
What we disclose and to whom
- Public Contributions: Spring entries you submit (coordinates, altitude, flow type, accessibility, photos, and non-personal notes) may be publicly visible to help other users and communities.
- Service Providers: Trusted vendors that help us run the App (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, content delivery). They process data under agreements and only as instructed by us.
- Legal & Safety: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users, the environment, or our rights.
- Business Changes: If we merge, acquire, or transfer assets, relevant data may be transferred consistent with this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services (SDKs)
The App may include third-party SDKs that collect data under their own policies. Review their notices:
- Google (incl. Google Play Services / Maps SDK)
- Apple (incl. Sign in with Apple / Apple Maps)
- Mapbox (use only if applicable)
- Firebase Crashlytics/Analytics (use only if applicable)
Note: Only include providers you actually use. Remove others before publishing.
Permissions we request
- Location: To show your position, navigate to springs, and add precise coordinates to your contributions. Background location is optional and off by default.
- Network access: To sync, fetch maps, and water springs data.
Data retention
- Account/Profile Data: Kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days after verified deletion request, unless we must retain it by law.
- Spring Contributions: Kept to support environmental knowledge. If you delete your account, we may retain non-personal, public environmental records (e.g., coordinates, flow type, accessibility, photos with personal identifiers removed) for scientific and community value.
- Logs/Diagnostics: Typically retained 12–24 months for security and reliability, then aggregated or deleted.
Your choices and rights
In-app controls
- Enable/disable precise or background location in your device Settings.

- US State Laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA): Right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of certain data sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise rights, email haliti.isak@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age defined by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at haliti.isak@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries outside your own. Where required, we implement safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Data deletion and account closure
You may request deletion of your account and personal information at any time by emailing haliti.isak@gmail.com or via in-app settings (if available). We will confirm when deletion is complete, subject to lawful retention requirements.
Environmental & research use of contributions
To advance environmental awareness and community safety, spring records (coordinates, altitude, flow type, accessibility, and de-identified media) may be preserved and shared with researchers, NGOs, and local communities in aggregated or de-identified form.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Effective date”. Where required, we will notify you in-app or by email.
